The NOURISHING WITHIN classes are about the inner/outer qi quality of
the 24 Qi Nodes that define the seasons of the Chinese lunar
calendar. What food, conduct and medicines are most effective in
calibrating our qi to Nature (Dao) - what is health and
synchronicity? References are made to Chinese almanac astrology,
medical Classics, Daoist and Confucian philosophy and the direct
experience of everyday life. These classes are open to everyone. In
July we will review Slight Heat and Great Heat qi nodes.
Our neigong class reviews simple exercises associated with the same
qi nodes. Though this class is currently full - a new introductory
workshop is planned for Fall.
In March 2007 we began a new BEGINNING CHINESE ASTROLOGY class. This
class introduces students to the basic tenets, vocabulary and
calculation methods of both almanac astrology and North Star or
Polestar natal astrology. The class is now closed - a new Beginning
class may be offered again in the Fall. ADVANCED CHINESE ASTROLOGY,
is an on-going class that deepens each students understanding of the
mantic arts (astrology, fengshui, Yijing, etc.). In June we will
continue the review the "Portents of the 8 Directions".
In March and May the DREAM, SLEEP and the DAO of the NIGHT Part One
and Two was presented. The first part of the series introduced
methods of appraising and recovering healthy sleep with a focus on
the anatomy and physiology (5 shen) of pre-modern, traditional
Chinese medicine often credited to Daoism. Part Two "Shamanic
Dreaming" introduced a glossary of Dream imagery that can take the
practitioner from self-Healing onto the Shamanic Path. Part Three
introduces the parallels between Alchemy (as practiced by Chinese
Daoists) and Dreaming.
ZUOWANG or "sitting and forgetting" is the central practice of DYC's
meditation groups called Liudao and Bamboo groups. Anyone wishing to
join the on-going Bamboo group can purchase and review a CD recording
of Liu Ming's April presentation for $25.
JUNE - Part Three of SLEEP, DREAM AND THE DAO OF THE NIGHT will be
offered (in five sessions).
